In the centre of the room stood a kitchen table, at which Fornieles sat with her mother. On the floor lay a large dog. In this instance, both mother and dog symbolised aspects of security and protection. In the background, the radio relayed the 24-hour news cycle: a constant reminder of the outside world. The two women sat peeling, cutting and preparing vegetables with kitchen knives. On the stove was a large pot of soup, the smell of which filled the room. One at a time, participants were invited to sit at the table. In exchange for a story of either giving or receiving help, they in return were offered a cup of tea and a bowl of soup.
